Hey guys,

AFAIK, eSim will not be available on the release date of iPhone XS/XS Max, which means if I use IUP to upgrade my iPhone X, I will get an iPhone XS/XS Max with a physical sim card. My question is, when eSim becomes available later this year, is it possible to transfer the existing plan from this physical sim to eSim? I would like to leave the physical slot for my second carrier.

Thanks!

You will be able to transfer the primary plan to the eSIM. It will probably have to be done after the fact though. But yeah, it would be nice if we could choose which SIM to activate when we order a new phone or an upgrade. I’ve been waiting for a dual SIM iPhone for a long time since I travel a lot. Need my primary on the eSIM and the slot for SIMs I pick up in other countries.
