Hi, :)

I bought a Motorola SLVR L6 today. So far, I am going through the stages of setting it up, which takes a while for me since I have never owned a mobile phone. Anyway, I am interested in using my own mp3's as ringtones, and also my own pictures on my computer for wallpapers etc. Another important thing that I would like to be able to do is to transfer images and videos taken with the camera on the phone onto my iBook.

I have a USB to mini-USB cable, which iSync has recognised. iSync works well as far as I can see. But I have no idea how to transfer files to and from the phone with my iBook.

How is it done? What program do I use?

Thanks for the help, in advance. :)

Does your iBook have Bluetooth? I always use the Bluetooth File Exchange for transferring things (songs, pics, etc) between my computer and my phone.

If you don't have Bluetooth, I'm not really sure sorry. Is there any Mac transfer software on the CD that came with the phone (assuming a CD came with the phone)?

Nah, thats the problem, my iBook doesnt have Bluetooth. Also, my phone didnt come with any CD's, but I have heard that the CD's that are sometimes provided are only for windows anyway. :(

So Im just hoping for some sort of alternative software instead o getting bluetooth on my iBook. I would have thought that it would be simple, seeing as iSync is registering that the phone is there...and there is a USB connection...but its proving to be difficult to find a solution...:(

Unfortunately it seems that bluetooth is your only option as it doesn't have a transflash card that you can just take out and put in a card reader.

Yeah, I thought that would be the case, and I thought I would be up for $100 or something to get Bluetooth built-in to my iBook. But I have had a bit of a brain-wave (im slow), could I just purchase a USB dongle (i see them on eBay for under $20), and plug that in? Would that work with the phone?

Yeah, I was going to suggest a bluetooth dongle. The only thing is, I'm not sure as to there Mac compatibility. If that isn't a problem, it should work with your phone without any hassles.

edit: According to this thread it shouldn't be a problem.

bluetooth dongles work great, but just going back a bit how would you spend 100 and get it put in built in?

I have the SLVR too. Bluetooth is the only way and I use the DLINK dongle, just plug it in and off you go.

Regarding the SLVR however bluetooth file transfer did not recognise the SLVR for myself and hundreds of others and so transfering stuff was impossible until 10.4.7 came out the other day, so make sure you are running 10.4.7 and it should work fine.

Can't you get a Bluetooth chip fitted into the iBook? Like this: http://www.welovemacs.com/9226571.html

Ok, thanks for the heads-up. That could have turned out frustrating.
