iPad Pro Transfer files

So, trying for the first time to transfer files from a USB drive to my iPad Pro. Can’t figure out how to do it. I have the dongle that plugs into the lightning port, do I need a separate app?

Are you using iOS 13 Beta? Unless the files are photos within a DCIM folder, you can't do that under other iOS versions (unless you're using something like the ixpand drive).

What kind of drive is it, e.g. size, formatting? Lightning has power issues (too little) with many drives and NTFS isn't supported.
