transfer iPhoto slideshow to iPad?

I have created an iPhoto slideshow using my photos and my music. Is it possible for me to save the show onto the iPad? I am using iPhotos 6. Another question is can I update to the latest iPhotos without having to purchase Garageband, and iDVD, etc? I could not find a way of updating only iPhotos.
