Transfer of windows files

I have just purchased a new imac desktop and want to transfer some of my microsft windows files (word docs, photos, etc) from my old desktop and laptop onto the imac. I have a data stick and a ethernet cable but am not too hot on how to do things like this. Can anyone please give me some easy to follow instructions on what I need to do? Thanks

Lists three ways to do transfers -- using an iPod or by networking your computers (the third is taking your computer to a Genius and letting them do it, but that's kinda silly IMHO ). I actually used my iPod and it was a snap. You've got the ethernet cable, so it tells you how to plug 'em together and what to do from there.
