Hi i have an imac connected wirelessly to an airport express which is acting as an extender for my crappy sky router. i have a buffalo link station connected to the sky router as well and my transfer speeds between the two seem slow. for example a 6gb file from mac to nas says over 3 hours and when i look at network in activity monitor my data sent/sec averages about 600-700KB/s or 0.7MB/s or 5.6Mb/s.
What sort of speeds should i be able to get over wifi or ethernet with my iMac.
i use my nas for backing up data and also copying music to for my sonos system so slow speeds are no good. also when i stream some large movie files from mac to apple tv 2 these are struggeling too and keep buffering.
I am getting 40Mb/s fibre optic broadband with a new hub tomorrow so obviously i want to get the best out of this as well if this means with ethernet cable then thats what ill have to do but the hub only has 3 ethernet ports and i have mac, sonos, nas drive, apple tv, av receiver, and sky that i would all like connected with ethernet how can i do this.
Thanks Dan
