My girlfriend would like to transfer her Whatsapp chats to her new iPhone, coming from an Android device. I know there's no official way to do this and that it can be a pain in the proverbial *ss but any ideas ?

Personally, I've been telling her to ditch that Whatsapp crap for years but she won't listen ?

Yes, and she backed up her Whatsapp chats to the cloud but you can only restore those chats to a new phone if you stay on the same platform. If you change from Android to iOS, or vice versa, you're basically screwed.

I've gone back and forth between iOS and Android, and I'm a heavy WhatsApp user. I've fought this very issue for many years now... and the short answer is, no, unless you're willing to pay. Even then, I've read reviews of the paid apps and people weren't impressed, so I gave up trying.

Whatsapp is the only app that makes it so difficult to migrate to another platform. Personally, I hate the app (I think it's crap) but since most of my friends and family use it, I'm kind of forced into it.
I'd much rather use Messenger (which is what the aforementioned friends and family hate). iMessage is no option when you're communicating with an Android user.

Those paid options are rather pricey, and apparently, not all that reliable.
I guess her best option will be to export her chats via email. Not the best solution but better than nothing, I guess.
