I have a good friend that just experienced the joy of receiving her first iPod touch. However the experience has been marred by the fact that the old computer containing all her music has died. The 1000 plus songs now only live on through her old iPod nano. The time-old problem is now how to get them from that iPod nano, to the computer she is now using, to her iPod touch. Transfering purchases isn't an option, as she has no apple id and downloaded all the songs illegally. Despite this being her own fault, I'd appreciate it if any of you had any suggestions.

Can you explain this exPod for me? Is it some sorta software? If a link to download it would be awesome.

I assumed Mac OS X is involved in some way, thus I mentioned exPod, which can be found via search for "expod" and leads to the exPod homepage, which has the following to read:
expod is a small utility for getting songs off your iPod. iTunes does a fantastic job of copying music onto an iPod, but lacks the ability to go the other way. With expod you can copy any or all of your songs (or videos) off your iPod, using whatever file naming convention you like.

If you have Windows, there are plenty of similar applications found via "getting songs off ipod windows".

Again, please describe these things for me and where to get them

A www (world wide web, a service of the internet) search will yield many results.
And more information and clarification of your equipment and specifications would be useful too.
Take a look here:

Re-import from the cds.

No, no, no. You missed the point entirely. That friend was obtaining the music ILLEGALLY (gally are quite nice looking syllables), thus reimporting from the CDs is not an option. Though re-obtanining them the same way would be, but as per forum rules, we can't "describe these things for that friend and show where to get them".

I definitely should have delivered more links, don't you think? I feel so ashamed, when I don't deliver enough results in my posts (and confuse temporal dispersions with tempus fugit), even though I hint at how to reach them. Hmm, I should have met my psychologist today, though I might have had an appointment with my psychiatrist. I always confuse those two and that herbal medicine one gives me with that green, heart shaped pill the other gives me. I'm awake too long. And where have all the smilies gone? Eaten by the emoticonster? And is an emoticon an emotional con?
