As a suggestion for "clean" install, perhaps it might be best to install the Apps from scratch. re: New install from original CD/DVD. And when completed, apply necessary patches / upgrades - when connected to Internet. Thus, ensuring all applications and their components are installed "clean".
For apps data files, it might be best to purchase external Hard Disk, connect via USB port and "copy" files over. And at the same time, determine what data files you want to keep (copy over) or trash. After needed data files are copied over, one can then use their external Hard Disk with included Time Machine - for automatic backups. If wondering, I have an external HD connected to my iMac via FW800 Port. This same drive can also be connected via USB cable. Thus, allowing both short term and long term benefits. These days, external HDs are affordable. re: Inder $120....
Some folks use a Migration tool and have success. For me, I use "manual" install of Apps and manual "copy" of data files....
Good luck.
