Hey guys,

I was wondering how to do this. I have a comcast dvr system and i have a ton of dvr recorded contact on it. I wanted to move from the dvr onto a mac laptop and convert some of the content into mp4 to load into my iphone. Is there a simple way to get the media onto the laptop. there's a firewire port on the comcast cable dvr but im not sure how to this process

Download the Firewire SDK from Apple and use the AVCVidCap application in that bundle. Connect the DVR and your Mac via firewire, set up the recorded program to play, and capture the stream. Then compress it via HandBrake.
