Transferring Apps bought on a US account to a UK account

I was just wondering if anyone had done this or knew the answer to this question...

I just moved from the US to the UK. I have bought a ton of apps from the US store and now I will be buying a new iPhone in the UK. I know I can turn my iTunes account into a UK iTunes account by just changing my address and credit card in iTunes. But does anyone know what will happen to my apps I have already purchased? When I need to update the apps, will be ok that I am now signed into the UK store with my account?

I haven't gotten the new phone yet, so I cannot try it. I just wonder if I should stop buying apps from the US store until I get the new phone.

I'd keep your US account and create a new UK one. That way you can still get any freebies from the US and use gift cards to keep some credit in it.

Your iPhone can cope with having apps from more than one account on it. But just make sure you're logged into the right account (for your purpose) when you synch since that's the one the iPhone will use to download from/get app updates from.

If the applications are not available in the UK store, then you won't be able to update.

Yes you can. Just log out of one account and into the other account. Any updates can be downloaded, then log back into the other and resync. No worries. I do it often.

So if I turn my current US account into a UK account and I have bought an app that is in both stores (Rolando for example), I can update the US bought Rolando while I am signed into the same account but which is now a UK account?

Sorry if I keep asking the same question, I just don't want to convert my US account if there is going to be a problem. If I do end up making a different account for the UK, will I be able to have all of my US apps synced to my phone along with the new UK apps I buy (even though they are seperate accounts)?

Oh sorry, I think I misread the OP. I didn't get the "convert account" bit. I was just thinking about apps bought in two different stores. Honestly, I've no idea what will happen if you convert your Acc. But if you do convert and the apps are available in both stores I see no reason for an app not to update. They aren't regionalized, the stores are. But might be worth a call / email to Apple.

If you have two accounts, both sets of apps will synch to your phone without a problem BUT you'll only be able to download upgrades depending on which store you're currently logged into.

I also recently moved from the US to the UK and I also just recently purchased a new iPhone in the UK. However, I just kept my account a US one and am using it on my new phone. I haven't seen any reason to either switch my account to the UK or even open a UK version. I guess between the two it would be smarter to open a new one in the UK rather than risking any problems with converting your US one.
