I currently have a 2007 white macbook with Snow Leopard installed and am going to purchase the new 11inch 'ultimate' macbook air.

I am buying online but if I want everything transferred over can i take both computers in to the apple store and they will do it for me?

Do i need to book an appointment to do this?

Will all settings and the layout and location of files be identical?

If so will there be any issues due to the new Lion software in doing this?

I am currently abroad for the next month so don't have access to Time Capsule or an external hardrive to do it myself.

Thanks for any help in advance!

everything will be identical when you transfer over.

you can probably take it in to an apple store and have it done, but they will charge you.

if you have time capsule, just back everything up, then attach your new air, and boot to time capsule, and just system restore everything from the latest time capsule back up, then you have 2 identical macs that you may enjoy!

Great to hear - Thanks for the help!

I have time capsule at home in the Uk but am in the US for at least another month and want to use it with everything on straight away!

I will ask in the store as hopefully the fact that I've just bought a new laptop (all be it online) will mean they will do it for free...
