Using Disk Utility, I set up a mirrored external RAID for Time Machine a couple of years ago. It's connected via Thunderbolt.

It just occurred to me that if I got a new iMac it might not see that RAID1 volume because it wasn't created on the new iMac.

Will it be possible to use my external RAID volumes (besides Time Machine), I have another RAID1 for Data) on a brand new iMac? If so how does one transfer a software RAID array to a new computer?

Last time when I transferred an external RAID built by one Mac (with Disk Utility) to another, it worked.

The relationship between the disks and volumes is stored on the disks themselves and not in the OS. It will migrate safely.
