Hi all,

I am looking to buy a Mac soon. Hopefully, MWSF will being in the Intel PB I'm waiting for :) Oh, by the way, I'm currently using Windoze, so forgive the dumb questions.

Anyway, my question is regarding the transfer of files and folders. I know that there have been a good amount of posts in regards to this, so I do apologize, but I could not find this using the search feature.

1. Am I correct in assuming that all I really need to do to transfer my files is to get CAT 5 cable and plug it into my PC and the Mac? Are there settings I need to mess with in order to establish a connection, or should it be an automatic detection type of thing?

2. This is the dumber of the two questions... and I hate to ask it, but, you don't have to drag each file out of a folder on Windoze in order to transfer it, then make a new folder for it on your Mac, right? You can just drag the whole folder to the desktop or the HD or wherever, right?

Thanks, sorry for the newbie questions...

Welcome!

I think the easiest way to do this would be to share your home directory from the Macintosh to the Windows computer. A simple Ethernet cable would be enough for this.

Doing shares between the two systems should be quite easy, and Apple has great directions on how to do this, as does your system.

::EDIT::
Good advice by the previous poster, that Megaman is fast! ;)

Thank you very much. You just saved me from burning about 15 CDs :)

Thanks again,
John
