I've read about issues with transferring files from a Mac to a Note2. I use to transfer my files to a incredible fry Mac. Why does it not work with the Note2?

Used it today on my Note 2. Works well. Make sure to uninstall Keis first though.

I did a brain dump on this: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1468070/

TLDNR: Samsung push their all-in-one sync app 'Kies'. It isn't great. It also installs a driver that breaks the Android File Transfer app from Google (that others are recommending) from working.

It wasn't immediately obvious that Kies was causing the problem - once you've tried it and gone "Ugh!" you have to uninstall it from your Mac (using the uninstaller supplied with the download) before Android File Transfer works.

Also, Android used to have a feature called "USB Storage Mode" that allowed you to plug in a phone and have it pop-up like a USB memory stick, compatible with everything under the sun, and making it easy to drag/drop files or even write rsync scripts to bulk-copy files. However, this did mean that the Phone had to 'unmount' the storage while it was being accessed by the computer. Google have replaced this with a Windows protocol called MTP - which doesn't have this problem but isn't directly supported by Macs - hence the need for the Android File Transfer application.
