Transferring files to a Mac G5

Is there a way to connect my MBP to my Mac G5 and transfer files directly? What Im doing now is dumping files to a Mercury FW drive, then to either comp
 
You should be able to use firewire target disk mode. Connect the two machines with a firewire cable, and then reboot your MBP and press 'T' immediately on startup. It will go into 'Firewire Target Disk Mode' and appear on the G5 as a firewire drive.
