I just got my Macbook home about 4 hours ago :)

And.. I'm probably being completely stupid. But I can't figure out how to transfer my PC files over.

I don't have a DVD burner in my PC so I can't do it THAT way.

My ipod isn't big enough to transfer - and if I were to use it, it'd take me a week totransfer everything.

I can't figure out my home network, so I can't do it that way.

How does the ethernet cable thing wor? I read it on Switch 101, but I still don't understand.

Can SOMEONE help a first time Mac user out a little bit? Thanks :)

Alright nevermind..

So i went through that "Networking windows with mac os x" thing and it doesn't make any sense.

The directions it's giving me don't pertain to anything on my Mac.

For instance, on the Configuration part, it tells me how to put my Mac in the same workgroup as my PC. But the directions don't make sense.

Alright, I'm getting pretty frustrated to be honest.

I just need to get this over with quickly, otherwise I'm half tempted to throw my brand new Macbook out the window.

*sigh*

it also doesn't help that I know NOTHING about networking, period.

If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it!

How big is the iPod? And how much data are you looking to transfer?

Any possibility of buying an external hard drive? You can get an 80gb or so for less than $100. Should be formatted out of the box, hook to the pc, dump everything, unplug, plug into the mac and voila! There are your files.

The networking thing isnt that hard really. Im no network expert and was file sharing in minutes.
