After a bit of a struggle, I finally managed to copy my Old version 6. Something from my Macbook to my new MacBook Pro, since it did not have the program. I did not want the new version, as I have read some bad comments about it. The only thing that I have not resolved is how to get my Old recorded tunes copied over. I shall continue the attempt tomorrow.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

Where -are- your "old recorded tunes"?

If I'm not mistaken, the default location is in your home folder (either in "documents" or "music")?

If so, you should be able to copy them from there into your new home folder on the new Mac...

Hi fisherman. Thanks for replying.I did find all of the Garageband tunes and got them copied into the program on the new Mac. They were hiding inside sub folders under "user". I have tested the program on the new MacBook Pro and it seems to run fine on El Capitan, even though many people have found that it did not! I think the problem people have had is that they have bought the new version of Garageband, which is not expensive, only to find that it was different in many ways and then wanted to revert to the old version. The file structure however, is not the same and copied files were not found. I avoided these problems by cloning the old MacBook on an external drive ,then I was able to compare the directory trees side by side, to make sure things ended up in the right places. All a bit tedious, but worth the effort in the end. I quite like El Capitan now that I have used it for a couple of days. I was just going to downgrade it to Yosemite, but I think I will keep it after all.
