Transferring music with a HTC

I am considering switching to the HTC One from an iPhone when it comes out. My main concern is with music syncing. I use iTunes. Is there a music folder on HTC devices that I can just simply drag and drop the music into using Android File Transfer or something?

Connect it to your computer as a USB drive, create a music folder if there isnt one then drag and drop files

The easiest thing to do is use DoubleTwist. Download the program on your computer and the app on your phone and it'll allow you to sync all your iTunes playlists.

You should also consider syncing all your music to Google Play Music through the Google Music Manager and just stream all your music. It will automatically upload any new music you add to iTunes and it will show up on your phone in the Google Music app.

I considered doing Google Music but I read that there is a 20,000 song limit and my library is currently at 19,000 so I would think that wouldn't be a long term solution, Unless you can purchase more storage?

Unfortunately, Google only offers 20,000 free songs without an option for purchasing more. Another alternative you can use is streaming from Amazon Cloud Player. I believe it's around 250k songs for $25/year.

If you listen to mostly MP3, then maybe consider buying some extra storage on Google Drive and uploading all your music there and downloading this app to stream it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.whylee.musicdrive

Since 19,000 songs probably wouldn't fit on your phone's storage anyway, what I recommend is to simply use Google Music and don't upload all the songs. 20,000 should be enough to keep you entertained for a while....

And yes, on Android, any media player will automatically detect any of your media files (unless you create a .nomedia file in the folder). If you really want to go the route of copying the songs directly onto your phone, I'd recommend you purchase PowerAMP. It's simply the best music player on Android. But again, 19,000 songs won't fit on the One's storage...unless they are all 1-2MBs each.

Thanks, I'd really rather just deal with local storage when it comes to music (bad experiences with iTunes Match) I don't expect all my music to fit, haha. How does PowerAMP compare to the stock music player in Sense?

Honestly, I've never tried the HTC's stock music player. I'm currently with a DNA but I almost never use stock apps and delete them all once I flash a custom ROM.

Since 19,000 songs probably wouldn't fit on your phone's storage anyway, what I recommend is to simply use Google Music and don't upload all the songs. 20,000 should be enough to keep you entertained for a while....

You can always use multiple accounts. Two accounts equal 40,000 songs in the cloud.

You can switch between accounts from within the Google music app or any browser. Very easy and uploaded list from accounts change instantly.

Only issue is you can't combine accounts at the same time (haven't looked to see if there is a workaround or hack for that). The list on Google music app will change according to what account your switching to, and the stuff on the other account won't show until you switch back. Anything that's on your local storage(phone and sd card) will remain that same.

You'll also need to manually point Google Music manager to differ folders that you want uploaded according to the Google account set on it.

For example .... You could upload some albums/music that you barely listen to and are not on any playlists on the second account.

Might sound like a slight hassle but it's pretty easy and worth trying out since it's completely free.

You could always merge multiple songs together into one continuous file.
