Transferring Programs to Mini Server

I have a iMac which is three yrs old and is running out of HDD space. I have a Win xp system and MBP. My imac is running VMare and windows base software. Would a mini server be able to utilize all the programs mainly thru VMare. The system is very slow now, and has become frustrating. I am now running Time Machine thru fireire and wonder if all info can be transferred to mini easily.
