I am soon about to get a MBP with stock 2GB RAM. Apparently it takes 3GB? I'm guessing it's 1 x 2GB plus 1 x 1GB stick.

Is the stock 2GB configuration 1 x 2GB stick or 2 x 1GB sticks when you order it from Apple? The reason why I ask is because I have 2 x 1GB sticks in my MB and would like to take one from it to add to the MBP so it is maxed out to 3GB.

Its 2x1 GB sticks.

Seriously, if you want 3 GB, get 2x2 GB for dual-channel RAM bandwidth, if you have that much money of course :)
