iPod Transferring songs - iTunes Match library to iPod shuffle

Hey,

I've just recently transferred my library using iTunes Match so everything is in the cloud. So all the music on my macbook pro is now just streamed from the cloud.

My question is: do I have to physically have to have the songs on my hard drive to transfer/put new songs on my iPod shuffle? I want to update my shuffle!

Yes, I believe they have to be already downloaded. iTunes won't download files automatically before putting them on the Shuffle.
