Hello all!

I have XP installed on my Macbook 13", Everythings been going great for quite a while now, but I need to get a 6GB file from OSX to XP. I thought it would be a simple matter of dragging the file whilst in finder, and dropping it on the XP partition, as I've done with all my other files. However I get an error to the effect of, Unable to complete due to unknown error (error 01). I've found out this is because the file is bigger than 2GB. So, I'm curious if there's any other way to transfer the file, would a memory stick in Mac formate be readable by XP? Or is it going to come to going out, buying a pack of expensive DVDs, and transferring that way?

Best Wishes

Is your XP partition FAT32 or NTFS? It will have to be NTFS for 6GB files.

Expensive DVD's... come on dude.... I you could afford a macbook and an XP license you can definately spend $1 on a blank DVD jewel case or $15 for a pack of 50DVD spindle...

Anyways, if it is a movie file or something, try converting it into 2 parts maybe that might work.

Worst case scenario, you might have to convert your drive to NTFS (is it even possible). Go to Control Panel >Administrative tools >computer Management > Disk Management and convert the drive to NTFS. You would then not have the filesize limitation.

Hope this helps!

FAT can't do more than 2gb file. That's ms windows limitation.

Mac can write to NTFS with simple software install. That will allow you to transfer the 6gb file.

Okay, so if I go ahead and reformat the drive to NTFS, does anyone know of any utilities to transfer files between OSX and XP?
