Transit in Apple Maps

How long do you think it will take for Apple to roll out Transit maps in other cities? Has there been any word on the expected speed of roll out?

I was hoping that roll out would be fairly quick, but seeing how detailed/customized the transit maps are, I don't think that will happen.

Small/Medium North American cities like Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Seattle may have to wait quite a bit of time.

canada will probably never be supported, we're always shafted for these things, itunes radio, apple pay (useless anyway), now transit & news app too. luckily theres is lots of transit apps, ill be staying with my transit360

You will get a few big cities within the next year (toronto, vancouver, montreal, etc.) but most will not be added for a few years.

I use the Transit app for San Diego. It claims to cover 97 municipalities that believe in Open Data. I wonder how it will be affected by Apples Transit app.

Do you think we'd get Vancouver that soon? I can see Montréal, since it's a huge city, but considering they haven't even covered a city as large as Chicago in the first wave I'm skeptical.

Chicago and Toronto ARE in the first wave...some already active today and will definitely be active in September.

I think the concern that it will take a very long time for somewhat smaller cities like Edmonton to be covered remains legitimate regardless.

Sorry...but I was responding to the fact that you said they weren't even covering a city as large as Chicago...but I now understand that you feel they should be covering all cities that large?

Either way, it is obvious from the list that they are hitting the largest cities from a "commuter" stand point forst, not necessarily population. And the move to cover China is smart based on the current iPhone adoption rate there and competition from lower cost competitors.

It will simply remain to be seen how quickly the rate is for adding other cities. But this was a much needed addition based on initial complaints. Considering their source material is most likely coming from HopStop, I would say adding new cities will come pretty quick.

It was! I clearly remember uncontrollably yelling out "Toronto!!" when it came up.

I currently use the Transit app to get around. I have a feeling I'm still going to be using it after iOS 9, maybe mainly because of the widget. And the service alerts. Suppose the only time I'll use Apple Transit is if I ask Siri. But we'll see! I like how they map out the actual stations.

Yeah I believe there wasn't any mention of Apple Maps using real time predictions so as anyone who lives in SF knows, MUNI's schedule means absolutely nothing.

Transit will be safe for awhile to come.

It's just a guess, but Vancouver has a large population (for Canada) and also a lot of commuters. Wish it covered all cities, would be a pretty useful feature for lots of younger people.

Apple haven't even got their maps right yet. They should focus on that rather than adding further cities for their transit feature to an unreliable map.

It says Toronto but it includes a lot of the surrounding cities as well. I live in a suburb of Toronto and iOS9 shows me transit direction here as well.

Apple are still playing catchup with Google maps and even with the release of ios 9, they still haven't caught up. Google maps has had transit for my area for about 2 years now, I live out in the sticks and I'm not covered by Apple maps. Barely anyone outside of a few cities is.

Really poor stuff from Apple when maps are concerned.
