I picked up two new Iphones today, one being a upgrade from the 3G. How do I transfer my apps from my 3G to the new 3GS? The AT&T rep said to restore from backup.
Then I picked up a second one for my wife. can I add that one and use the same Itunes account and computer and sync? Not sure how the Apps would all be worked out then as well. Hopefully it won't create a big ol' mess. I'll find out tonight but if somebody knows how to handle these I'd appreciate it.

I was pleasantly surprised to see it was painless! I plugged in the 2nd Iphone, it prompted me to register it with Itunes (used same account), It then prompted me if I wanted to restore from backup (still not sure if I want to do that for the replacement phone), said no and it then transferred all the apps from my phone to my wife's. Now need to add playlists so our polar opposite tastes don't get transferred to each others phones.

Now I just need to jailbreak the old phone so my brother can use it on TMobile. I wonder if AT&T would help do that or do I need Pwanage??

glad you got it figured out. I sync 2 iphones with my iTunes library with games and pictures. I would not have recomended to restore from back up because of file corruption sometimes. Just a plain sync.

As for the phone for your brother just get pwnage tool if on Mac or Winpwn if on Crappy$oft.

Follow the instructions and you should not have any problems.
