For the last few weeks the option to add Travel Cards has been missing from the Wallet app on my iPhone 12 Pro Max - when adding a card, the only options are "Previous Cards" and "Debit and Credit Cards". I'm not sure exactly when it started but it's been happening across multiple iOS 18.1 betas, and now the RC. Has anyone else experienced this?

I need to create a Suica card in a few weeks so this is becoming a concern.

you say you will "create a suica card in a few weeks".
i assume that means that you dont currently have a valid suica card registered in the suica app on your iPhone right now.

i dont think the wallet would have an option to put a card in it that doesn't yet exist.
its very apple to not even show an option to do something unless there is something that meets the conditions for that option.

suica app, downloadable from the japan app store/register your suica card in the app/put in wallet.

That’s completely untrue. Normally when you tap the Add Card button in Wallet, there’s a Transit Cards option, within which you can choose from a bunch of travel cards for different cities (lots of Chinese ones, a HK Octopus card, several Japanese IC cards, Toronto Presto cards). That option isn’t appearing for me at the moment:

You can’t create a Suica card in Apple Wallet from an app. You can either create a digital one in Apple Wallet directly, or transfer an existing physical card. But unless the option shows up in the add cards interface, you can’t do either. Here’s the Apple support article about this feature: https://support.apple.com/en-us/108772

Seems like this a poorly made decision by Apple. I hope they revert it, it is interesting to see what travel card options pop up as they add new regions

As of this morning, the Travel Card option has re-appeared. Maybe a server-side issue or something related to the public rollout of iOS 18.1? Either way, it’s fixed in time for my trip.
