Hi all I searched long and hard for the answer to this question to no avail (i may just be a terrible searcher)

I've recently jailbroken my 6.1.2 ATT iphone 5. I'm going to Europe next week. Can I expect a prepaid Nano Sim to be plug and play compatible? Or am I completely wrong. Any advice or answer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Why is it related with Jailbreak? If your phone is unlocked you can do that, if not then you cannot.

I was under the impression that jailbreaking my phone unlocks it. But I guess that is not what jailbreaking does...?

You can pursue an IMEI unlock from your carrier or a grey market vendor.
The cost from vendor depends on the carrier you bought your phone from.

AT&T is the cheapest at around $5

I travel RTW and having unlock is crucial as well as VPN.

I unlock my phone using IMEI service and it works great here in Denmark. Don't fall for the scammers that only unlock for certain countries. I think mine was something like att-iphone-unlock dot com. They were great and no scam. On Telia DK network currently in DENMARK. And going to England in two months and will also still be unlocked there

Exactly why I choose to buy mine sim free factory unlocked !

If you can't get your carrier to unlock then look at roaming charges.

What ? What is your reply about ?

When a phone is IMEI unlocked, it is unlocked for any GSM sim. And for all time.

What unlock service did you use that is country specific?

IMO, if it is country specific, it is not really unlocked.
