I'm running into performance problems with Microsoft Excel and am posting here to see if it's just me or others are seeing this. I'm running into two issues.

When I open spreadsheets that I've created using other apps, they open in zoomed mode the first time I open them on the Mac. I'm OK with this. But if I create a new workbook in Excel or download a spreadsheet then it opens as a small window in the lower left corner of the screen. Like so:

Which I then need to drag up and expand so I can see the cells. I'd prefer that it either opens in zoomed mode or at least more in the center of the display. Is there a way to set the default behavior for this?

The other issue is that when I paste cells, or click to select a different worksheet in the tabs at the bottom of the workbook, I get the spinning beachball for five or ten seconds before I can do anything else.

This is on an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020) 3.8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7 with 128 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 running Monterey 12.3.1 and Microsoft Excel version 16.65 (22091101). I have literally heaps of RAM and storage available so it's not a lack of resources. Anyone else seeing this? I don't really use the other Office apps and this does not happen with any other app I'm running.

In Windows. MS Excel seems to remember the last new window size. If for example. I make a new workbook, move the window down, manually make it small in size, then close it. If I open Excel again. It starts off in the same position and size.

So, to avoid issues. Try closing all workbooks and create a new one. It'll open small. Manually resize it and change position (don't hit the maximize button). Close the workbook without saving. Create a new workbook. If it behaves like in Windows. That new workbook should be in the larger size and new position of the one you just closed.
