I've been using Swiftkey for almost two years now. When IOS 10 came out I thought I'd try the IOS keyboard out and see if there are any features I'm not getting with Swiftkey. The predictive text is horrible and laggy. It doesn't recognize close common words, auto corrects way too much, and lags way slower than Swiftkey with its predictions, and no swipe to type! I don't know how people are using it instead of a third party keyboard.

Cool story eh? Just had to vent, because it's mind blowing how slow I have to type on the IOS keyboard. BRB, turning it off.

Well... funnily enough the new features in iMessages were just enough for me to abandon Swiftkey after using it since launch. In the years since it was released it has never been better than a buggy mess and I figure if they haven't sorted it by now they never will. I only needed the smallest push to dump it. You would think Microsoft would throw some money at the problem but I guess the only way they are ever going to earn it back is if they start data mining for AI or something.

I don't think many people who are using Apple's stock keyboard are encountering those issues (short of some feature like swiping not being available).

Interesting! It's always worked smoothly for me. And now I can use the new features of ios10 and the Swiftkey keyboard.

Wouldn't surprise me. Swiftkey is just so much more intuitive to my style of typing, apparently. And I much prefer the black keyboard display. I'm glad the ios keyboard works for most!

I always thought the IOS keyboard auto corrected too much. However it is not laggy for me at all.

Yessss, auto correcting way too much. The actual typing is fast, the letters show up immediately, but the word options right above the keyboard take a second to populate. So sometimes I'll go to hit one of the word suggestions, then it changes to a different word by the time my finger is there. With Swiftkey I can darn near type out all my texts by using the word suggestions (since it knows my style well, after using it so long).

I think another part there is that a lot of people don't really use predictive features, they just type their words and let the keyboard correct them as they type them if/as needed.

Lag? What phone are you using? Never seen lag in the keyboard. Definitely has to be something with your configuration.

I love the iOS keyboard....hate the white on a black phone, but love the sounds. I was anti-GBoard but its grown on me. I liked WordFlow too, but now I hate it lol. To each their own lol

Not really happy with the amount of permission Swiftkey wants for sync... permission to read and delete my gmail e-mails? really?

access to my facebook profile? why?

that's why i deleted it. especially after they had a bug that leaked e-mails and other personal information to the wrong person...

http://www.theverge.com/2016/7/29/12326152/swiftkey-bug-backup-sync-down-error-prediction

That is the main reason I didn't use it. Why does a keyboard app need that much access?

my experience with 3rd party keyboards on iOS had always been lousy. I've found the stock keyboard to be miles better than anything out there. Lag, bugs, freezing. Always ended up deleting the keyboard and going back.

And those whole 'we want permission to access ...' stuff on those keyboards is a huge turnoff.

One thing I loved about Android (Galaxy) keyboards is they immediately recognized the words I wanted even misspelled to all hell.. iOS's keyboard always gives me the dumbest suggestions..I wonder how it's even possible.

Just so you're aware, the autocorrect is starting from a blank slate. You have to actually type in the standard keyboard for a period of time before it crafts itself to your typing style. It doesn't import the autocorrect and suggestions you have in swiftkey as all keyboards are silo'd off from each other to prevent the horrendous security issues in 3rd party keyboards on Android.

Only thing i've noticed with the keyboard in iOS 10 is it doesn't always switch back to the regular ABC keys after you use the 123 keys, type a comma etc and then hit space. it used to switch back to ABC..
It may be certain apps though. Pull down search and it works fine, Safari.. does not. Typing in a thread like this is *super* annoying.

Yeah, it's mainly Safari. Hopefully it's just a bug that Apple will hopefully fix soon.
