I have my iPhone 3Gs setup to connect to an Exchange server for email. When I receive a new email the phone makes a beep sound to notify I have a new email. How can I pick up on this event (new email) in an app I am creating?

Thanks for the reply. You said you can't using the "public API", is there a "private API" that I can use?

Just to confirm there is no way to do this using the default Exchange client that comes with the iPhone but if I built my own Exchange client app then I could do what I'm trying to do and I could also create an API which others could use if they downloaded and installed my Exchange client app.

Is that right?

Thanks. It is too bad the public API does not allow access to more of the mail functions and features. I could see where that would open the door for a lot of new possibilities in apps.
