Hi Everyone,
I have a bit of a silly query.
I've just bought a 2016 15" MacBook Pro Touch bar with a 2TB drive for doing video and animation work. I transferred all my documents and apps via time machine from my old 2010 MacBook pro. Inside my old machine I had a 500GB Crucial SSD and I had trim enabler running on it to extend the life of the drive.
When I booted up the new machine I panicked because I wasn't sure if trim enabler should be running on a Mac SSD, or whether TRIM even mattered anymore. I opened up TRIM Enabler and panicked because it said TRIM was on, so I turned it off, then rebooted the machine. Now, having read some articles I have turned TRIM back on again and it says 'Trim is enabled, but I'm unable to detect Trim status. To make sure Trim is working, check System information.'
Is this bad, or does it not matter? I'll be the first to admit that I don't really understand trim and that I am n00b in this matter.
Have I done any harm to the drive, or does it not matter at all?
