Trip to Detroit Zoo

Hey all,

I took a trip to the Detroit Zoo today. It was overcast all day, and in the 60's and 70's, so a lot of the animals were quite active today.

Me and my girlfriend also got to the zoo early so we could make sure we got the chance to feed the giraffes. For $5 a person, there is no reason not too. Here she is feeding one:

Very nice pictures, seeing those make me miss the good ole Detroit zoo. I haven't been there since 2006.

It's not so bad really, I would suggest anyone to go. It amazes me how empty the place is though. I feel bad that the zoo will probably not last too many more years this way. It has been nice having a zoo only 15-20 minutes away. Would be nice to have the same for my kids down the road.

its is sad that your probably right. i know that its been up in the air for a few years now about if they should keep it open or not. lets just hope it dosent have the same fate as the belle isle zoo and aquarium.

That's kinda funny; I live about 3 miles from there, and my family and I drove down to the Toledo Zoo yesterday to check it out. It seemed much smaller than the Detroit Zoo, but was really nice

Haha, I just went there! =D It's cool to see other users who live nearby. It's been one of the best days to go out there, because it's not ridiculously hot. I would like to see the sun sometime though, it's been 3 straight days of overcast skies.

I love the Detroit Zoo, there's a lot to offer there, and I hear it gets pretty busy on weekends, when people aren't necessarily working. I wish there was more business though, it's a really cool place to check out, not to mention it's relatively affordable.

I'm going to head down to the Toledo Zoo soon though, I figured why not since it's summer. I'm a huge fan of zoos...

Im with you on that one! i want the sun back. it would be nice if we could just get these last few months of summer, to have sunny days and in the mid 80's! that would be awesome! It is nice to see that there are a few of us that all seem to live in the metro detroit area here on the the forums.
