Hi,
I still wonder if it is possible to set up one macmini or iMac with 3 monitors. Why do I want that? I have a backoffice and frontoffice connected to each other. On the backoffice I need two monitors, keyboard and mouse (for book-keeping etc.), and on frontoffice (hotelreception) I just need one monitor for taking bookings etc (and keyboard and mouse). So this monitor is mirroring on of the monitors on backoffice. The 3rd monitor is just giving me extra space to look on files (PDF) I need while doing the bookkeeping. The mirrored monitors could be 17-19 inches, and the extra is a 22 inch. If it is on a iMac, I would like to have the iMac monitor in backoffice, with the external monitors as the monitors with the dock, commands etc. (mirrored). Is this possible? Today I have a dual G5 2.0 PowerMac. But it is getting old, but is still a good workhorse...:)

The 2009-2010 Mac mini's directly support 2 monitors.

To get three you can get a USB adapter - not super fast, and can be a bit glitchy from reports - or a Matrox splitter (2Head2Go?) - this makes the computer think you have a 2048x768 monitor and you hook up two 1024x768 monitors to the adapter.

ScreenRecycler and another Mac can do it too.

I used the Matrox and was a little disappointed due to the fact that you cant arrange the montor positions to your liking, This is what I use now. http://www.diamondmm.com/BVU195.php works very well for half the price and able to run thw two 23" external monitors at 1920x1180,

vrockob,

Are you using your USB video with Snow Leopard? Is it glitch free? The USB video from www.macsales.com only has beta drivers available for SL right now. When I tried it for adding a third display to my 27" iMac, I had issues when waking the Mac from sleep mode - it would cause my screens to freeze and I had to do a hard shut down.

I have the 7inch iMo monitor. Using it with my 27" i7. I think hat the SL driver didnt work but I got it to work with the Leopard driver. In any case, I haven't had a single problem. I still have the driver in my files, if you cant find it PM and ill send it to you.

I am using the diamond bvu195. It is not from mac sales I bought it from frys. I am using it with leopard but they do have SL compatibility.

I use the exact same Diamond BVU 195 with my 13" MacBook Pro and SL. The drivers have no major problems other than being slow when dragging windows around. Be warned though, Displaylink seems to have ditched drivers for Mac - their last driver release was November 2009 and NOBODY replies to any form of communication anymore. Before they would regularly update the SL drivers.
