Hi guys, I'm new to the Mac Mini (previously an iMac owner), and I'm wondering, is a triple monitor set up possible with the Mac Mini?

What monitor (~ 27") would you recommend given that I want to buy 3 of the same monitor? The thunderbolt display is really good, but too expensive I think (especially when you triple the cost).

Also, will it be possible to watch a movie spanning all three monitors? (Sorry for the noob questions!).

The supported method is to put one monitor on HDMI and daisychain two Thunderbolt monitors on the Thunderbolt port. This only works on certain Mac Minis (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5219?viewlocale=en_US#dispnum).

Movies are designed to fit one widescreen monitor. Three monitors is WAY too wide of an aspect ratio. To fill three monitors you'd have to zoom in and crop out large parts of the top and bottom of the movie. Maybe the ratio would be right if you had three widescreen monitors rotated to portrait.

So if you look at the list: only the Mini 2011 with Radeon Graphics supports triple display.

Maybe you should look at the latest 29 inch 2560x1080 superwide screens. They are suited for 1:2.35 movies.

You can also use a USB Display adapter, just don't expect that one screen to be super duper fast. I have a 4 monitor setup at work using one. OWC sells one that works with the MAC.

At work I'm using two external on the Dell laptop, the built in laptop screen, and one on the USB Display Adapter.
