Hello,

I'd like to purchase a tripod I can bring with me while traveling/backpacking for my iPhone. I don't need any connectivity other than a remote shutter.

I've looked at some of the top sellers on Amazon but I'm worried about the sturdiness of the legs of the tripod. I care much more about something being sturdy than I do the weight.

What are this forum's recommendations or experience with different tripods?

You should provide more specifics on what you're looking for, e.g. tabletop model, mid- or full-height model. You'd be better off buying a lightweight camera tripod and an adapter for your phone, like this:

If you can use a short tripod, then the Gorillapod brand is good and versatile -

I would say I’m looking for a larger tripod - something you’d normally buy for a dSLR.

I own several tripods, and my favorite is an Amazon Basics 60" Tripod. It has a nice carry bag, a handle to pick it up by to move it around easily, as well as a hook at the bottom to put extra weight on the tripod if you need to use it in windy conditions:

I also use my cell phone on this tripod fairly often by using an adapter that holds it in place that came with a handy remote shutter with a wrist strap:

Does a nice job for all my photography needs. I am using my iPhone more often than my Nikon DSLR since I bought this. A lot more convenient to use.
