Hi, I'm definitely going to buy myself an iMac, but I'm troubled as to which to choose. On the Apple site, they have a lovely 24" Refurb with 2.16GHz C2D, and 1 gig of ram. I really like this, because I plan to use it as a 'home theater' in my bedroom. But, and this is where it get's tricky, for the same money, I can get myself a brand new 20 incher with 2.33GHz and 2 gigs of ram.

I'm going to college to be a film editor, and I'm already in film classes in my high-school. In my classes, we use 2.0GHz CD iMacs and a few 2.16GHz C2D. The 2.16's only have a gig, and the 2.0's have 2 gigs of ram. They run all the editing software fine and at amazing speeds, but I'm apprehensive because I don't want to buy a computer and when I REALLY need it (college) it will be too slow to run what I need.

Is it possible to upgrade the processor on the 24 incher later on if I need to? I know I can upgrade the ram, I'm not worried about that, but the processor is my BIGGEST worry. I really want that big screen for obvious reasons, but I don't want to be left in the cold in terms of productivity. If the processor is upgradeable, I will probably get the 24". If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it. :) :apple:

The 24" will be upgradable to the 2.33. Whether it can be upgraded further will depend on Intel's future plans.

But seriously, the difference between 2.16 and 2.33, I seriously doubt the difference means anything, or that you will ever bother to upgrade. I know you're doing film stuff, but the bigger screen is more valuable than the slightly faster processor.
