After updating my MacBook Air to ios 11 (beta), Big Sur, I can no longer connect to my Mac Mini (El Capitan) through finder. I can view the Mini in the finder and I can screen share it on my Air, but when I attempt to connect to it to view files, I get an error message claiming "There was a problem connecting to the server “xxxx". I have rebooted both computers and also my router. Any ideas? Thanx in advance.

If you are referring to connection to a Samba share (using "smb" protocol) that does not work, but people seems to have success with using Apple File Protocol ("afp") instead.

As Apple has depreciated "afp" they may attempt "smb" as the default connection protocol.

I think it is a bug in the latest developer beta. I cannot connect to any network drives or computers either.
Thanx for the quick response!

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

I read the string here. I have an older mac mini acting as a file server. I have 6 other Macs 4 of which connect and 2 are not. 1 of the 2 connected once and now doesnt. The 2 that wont connected are on different OS versions.

One is 10.15.7 which a few of the others are on and the other is 10.12.6

We VPN to connect and use AFP://xx.xx.xx.x to connect to server.
