Good day,

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 27' Imac. However, I am having a hard time deciding which one I should buy.

I have been using my macbook for almost 3 years with no problem at all. Compared to all the pc desktop and laptop I used to have, the macbook has been incredible. My daily usage are basically web browsing, streaming and very light usage of Aperture 2 and some social networking (E.g. skype). I also have an ipad and an iphone. Since I have my ipad, the macbook has been somehow shelved. (my plan is to replace my macbook for an air very soon)

So based on what I used, I figure that the i3 is good enough for me. (I will be adding RAM with after market one) However since I want this to last me for a while, I thinking of getting the i5. (i7 would be to much for me)

As I want to make a wise decision (if that does exist with technology..) what would you recommend. Here are the 2 option:

1.
27' i3
1G graphic card
(8 or 16G of RAM)

2.
27 i5
512mb graphic card
(8 or 16G of RAM)

Other software to be added:
MS office
Iwork
Photoshop

Also, should I buy AppleCare? If I go with the experience I have with my Macbook, I shouldn't. (that thing just don't want to die so I can get a replacement..) However the Imac will be in a common area where my kids and any guest will be able to use it. Should I have that piece of mind?

Thanks

The i3 would be fine.
I always buy Apple Care. It's really a great price for an extra 2 years.
As far as ram goes, you would be fine with 8. You can always upgrade down the road.

What about the graphic card? Does the extra 512mb worth it if I don't play game?
