so i had some issues with my tangerine imac g3 that i thought were software issues so i deleted the hard drive which orignally had tiger running on it and installed cheetah. cheetah runs fine, (i guess..) but i want 10.1 and then eventually panther but i guess i can't go from cheetah to panther, says the installer when i try. Anyway, when making the upgrade from 10.0.4 to 10.1, half way through the installation i get an error message, which results in a broken version of cheetah and i get the kernel panic "we're hanging here" when i restart so i have to reinstall cheetah again. i've tried installing about 6 times always with the same error message "there was an error installing the OS, please restart and try again" or something like that. (you'd think i'd have it memorize by now but i guess not.

anyway, any suggestions??? i just want safari on my g3 in my new apartment for a kitchen computer that'll strictly be for all of my housemates to check email and post sticky notes about groceries etc... and expose is nice... and... not 10.0.4 ;)
