Trouble Jailbreaking my phone

I've been trying to jailbreak my iphone 3g for over an hour now with no luck.

I've tried redsn0w, winpwn, and quickpwn. None are working.

redsn0w gets me the furthest. I'm able to direct it to the firmware file, and it reconizes it, but when it starts the jailbreak and get's to rebooting the phone I get a windows error message and redsn0w crashes on me. I'm using windows xp sp3. I tried running in in compatability mode for 95, 98/me and 2000. All of those will cause redsn0w to crash as soon as I hit the browse button to look for the firmware file.

winpwn acts like my firmware file doesn't exist, and quickpwn freezes up after I show it where the firmware file is. I've shut down everything including my virus protection, but nothing seems to solve the problems. Google turns up solutions for the same problem, but only when it happens in vista. I did a search of the forums, but couldn't find an answer.

Anyone have this happen, or know how to fix it?
 
I am a mac user for years, so bear with me. I did use my work computer (sssh :p) using windows to jailbreak my 3g last month though so I'll try to help. I was using xp too. What version of redsn0w are you using? I saw that there was an issue with 0.8 so I used 0.7.1 and it worked. Can you give that a shot? I hope that helps! :)
 
And if you can't find the previous redsn0w version, I just noticed I have it on my idisk still, so I will make it public and email you the link to download if you need it :)
 
I thought that might be the problem too, but 7.1 won't recognize my firmware. It says 'unable to recognize specified IPSW'


Also, don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm running the 3.0 software on the phone.

What firmware are you on? If you're on 3.0 I strong suggest Purplera1n. Works a treat every time.

purplera1n is jailbreak for the 3Gs.

For the OP, use pwnage tool. It will build you a jailbroken firmware which you use to restore your device with in itunes.
