Trouble joining split rar's in 10.10

Was sent a few files that are split, requiring a "joiner" application. The files first come in zipped portions, that I unzip and extract the xxxxx.part1.rar file until they're all in the same directory. I've used UnRarX, Stuffit Expander, Archiver, HJSplit, Split and Concoct, searched through forums - can't join them.

I sense this is a Yosemite issue, but if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Have a somewhat hard time believing the OS would be a factor here.

Is this a known-good set of RAR files?

You've used all of those tools without successes yet you still think the issue is not with the RAR files themselves but something else. I would put money on that these RAR files came from a questionable part of the Internet where such files are known to be corrupt. If you deny that being the case then I would recommend contacting the person or company that created those RAR files and explain your issue then see if they can send you another set of files.

They worked on 10.9.5 on my Mac Mini. I did get UnRarX to work in 10.10 DP7. Apparently some are giving users trouble in 10.10, could be sandboxing issues or just the lack of the developer updating it.

Unarchiver hasn't been updated for Yosemite I believe.

Tried iZip? Seems perhaps a little more full-futured compared to most unarchivers on OSX.
