Trouble syncing iPad 2 & iPhone 4 after iTunes 10.5 Help needed!! N

I updated to the latest iTunes 10.5 this morning. After update I have had issues syncing my iPad 2 & iPhone 4. It try's to sync but most times it hangs on the step 1 the backup. At one point I got the can not create backup. Checked iTunes support and it said to delete the backups in te correct folder. I saved them before I did that. I deleted them and then tried to again do a manual backup. NOTHIN changed. Still would get hung up doing the backup. Sometimes it would go a little but still stall out. I really could use some help. Is this due to the influx on the apple servers for ios5??? Tried a normal sync and still nothin. Thanks
