I just tried to turn the phone on and nothing happened. I know that battery was charged and I had used the phone probably an hour earlier. I tried the power bar at the top and the center button. Neither one would give me anything. I plugged it into the computer on my desk and got power that way. I then unplugged it and it stayed on. I checked and the battery indicator said full. I unplugged it from the computer and it stayed on. When I shut it off and tried to turn it back on it would not do so. I repeated this procedure 4 or 5 times and then it finally worked.

Anyone have any ideas on why this glitch happened or what caused it? I would hate to have this happen when I am needing the info or the phone and I am not near my computer.

Thanks, Tom

Welcome to the forum :D

This may be fixed by a simple complete power cycle, hold down the top button until you get a slider at the top that says "slide to power off" let it completely shut down and restart it.

I had this same problem. The only way to get it to function is a reset. However, that won't fix it, once it goes back to sleep it won't turn on again and you'll need to perform another reset. I also did a restore which didn't help.

It's a new bug. Happened to my sister's iPhone as well.

The problem is, Apple won't work on the phone or replace it unless it's exhibiting the problem when you bring it in. The first time I brought it in, they got it to turn back on after a few resets, and it stayed on. The second time I brought it to the genius bar, the guy next to me had the same problem, so the genius worked on both our phones at the same time and couldn't figure out the problem. He ended up replacing both phones.

If you perform a reset and it appears to work, just be aware that a week or two later, the problem may recur. In my case it came back worse, and I couldn't use my phone for an entire day. That same day Apple replaced the phone.

Thanks for both the replys. I am hoping this does not happen again but we'll see. I am going out of town this weekend and I hope the phone keeps working.
