Hi everyone,

I have an iPhone 11 Pro and regularly listen to my music through a bluetooth speaker.

If my partner is listening to Apple Music on the Home Pod and I then start listening to library music from my iPhone onto the bluetooth speaker it disconnects the Home Pod and says something like 'more than 1 device is trying to play music, upgrade to a Family Plan'.

I'm sure I've not had this problem before, I'm trying to play music that I've downloaded onto the phone through the speaker so it won't be trying to connect to Apple Music to play the track, unlike the Home Pod that is using Apple Music.

Is there a setting I need to use to allow me to play music from my iPhone library on my bluetooth speaker whilst the Home Pod is playing Apple Music?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks,
Richard.

Neither the speaker nor whether the song is downloaded are the issues. It’s that you’re sharing an individual account and then trying to access it from two different devices at once. Music checks with apple to see if your account is in use before allowing you to play from another device.

You should be able to work around it by taking one of the devices offline while you play music.
