Trouble with custom keyboards & sms balloons (winterboard)

For some reason I can't change the keyboard or sms balloons in winterboard. I select them in winterboard but when the phone loads up the keyboard and sms balloons are the same. My friend did the same exact thing and his works no problem without ssh. I can change battery, slider, and general theme...just not keyboard and sms balloon. Is it possible I am getting a conflic with other apps installed from cydia? I have dock and springboard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go into Winterboard and move the custom items above the theme you have installed. Winterboard's features are prioritized by their position in the list. Closest to the top takes higher priority.

but unfortunately that did not work. They keyboard theme shows up when in cydia, but not in my other apps. please help. thanks.

Sorry to hear that. Is there maybe a keyboard that is affiliated with the theme you're using that you can deselect?
