I'm calling the cops
I am building a website called http://school-forum.net and I am finding it very difficult to do so. This is my first site and there are a few things I am unfamiliar with:

-Right now the forum is being hosted at school-forum.net, yet I wish to movie it to forums.school-forum.net, is there an easy way to do this?

-How do I upgrade vBulletin? I have downloaded the update but now what?

-The theme that I want to show up only shows up when you log in, an not before, how do I fix this?

I really need help, thank you!

If the themes each go into their own folder (not that familiar with Vb), then just copy the contents of the theme you WANT into the default theme folder, then it will be that theme when someone goes there.

That's a horrible way to do it. You'd lose the default templates.

In the admin panel, under the first box, select vbulletin options, then from the drop down, select style and language settings and then select the theme you want.

As for upgrade, depends on what versions. If you're just one or two updates behind, you could replace just a few files.

For extra measure though, since this is your new website and you're new at this: download the whole package from vbulletin and reupload it, but be careful not to rewrite your images and styles folders.

then run: www.mydomain.com/vbulletin/install/upgradexxxx.php, where xxxx is the one you need.

It's something like that.

Most of these questions are better asked at the vBulletin forum btw.

What's so bad about it? It would serve it's purpose.
what if the next install overwrites the default template?

that's just an example. if the product provides a way of using new templates (probably by installing them alongside the default template and allowing you to switch to it), then why would you want to do it in a different, destructive way?
