so ive got my mbp and im wondering if anyone else has had this problem. yes it has to do with the band the beatles.:D

first off it annoys me that the beatles arent in itunes so i had to download another app to get their album artwork, but that has nothing to do with what im about to ask.

i was trying to import my copy of abbey road into itunes, and it is a new copy of the cd with no scratches or anything. i had to buy a new copy less than a month ago because my last one was scratched to hell. but when importing it got to the end of the song "because" and the cd drive started to shotgun, revving up and starting to read the song then shutting down and starting again etc. it screwed up itunes and i had to force quit, and was unable to eject the cd. i restarted the computer, ejected the cd, and tried again. the same thing happened at the smae spot. so i restarted yet again and took out the cd, then unchecked "because" when i went to import the rest of the songs, and it was fine.

so has anyone else had this problem with the cd? im sure someone else has imported their copy of abbey road before. or is this some weird problem with the cd drive?

Something is up with either the SuperDrive drive or the CD. Try playing Because on a CD player and see if it acts weird. My copy of Abbey Road is pretty scratched up and it worked.

Also, I have every Beatles album ever in my iTunes library and have never had a problem, which rules out any Apple–Apple bickering conspiracy. ;) :D

it works perfectly fine when i play the song on any cd player...and my superdrive never gives me any kind of a problem aside from this particular song.

i think my itunes overheard me saying because was my least favorite song on the album, and now it wont let me listen to it at all.;)

CD copy protection, another reason why not to buy any Beatles albums.

Surely you jest, The Beatles are one of the best bands to ever grace this earth.

I, too, own every album and have had no problem getting them all onto my iTunes. Try making a duplicate of the CD and then importing with that.

Uncheck Because and try to reimport.

Since its your least favorite song, why bother? ;)

workaround

i had that problem importing a cd a couple times.
config itunes to do nothing on insert
copy folder/song to desktop
add to library from there.

strange, but it worked for me both times

or copy it to another mac and then import from there, FW

Well same problem here... almost
For some time my tracks are getting scratch when ripped in itunes.(including some from the beatles-love)
This happen more and more .Copy protection or date or country release has nothing to do with it... in some case the cd even get locked in one track and refuse to be ejected.
I have been posting without much answers so far but after some test and try here are some deductions.
Your lense might be dirty and you might have to go and buy a dvd lense cleaner kit... and everything fine... lucky you
your lense is not only dirty but damaged and you either have to change your drive or buy an external one.

Note: do not take my words for rule. the store i went to deal about my problem never had anything like that reported before and the silence form this forum tells me that this is not a very common problem. i will buy an external DVDplayer next week and can put an other post to say if it solved my problem (cleaning didn't)

Ok so yesterday i went to buy a little external dvd writer for 80€ the thing was not officialy supported by mac but never mind...
Came home, plug it in the USB2 port. no problemo. recognised by all programs without any instalation of software.
Beatles-Love and other Cds that had some scratch/artifacts ripped in iTune... they came out cristal clear in apple lossless.

Real pleasure... i guess i should check how much it would cost to change my internal drive but for the time being that will do.

also dvd+dl that i had problem to burn before went really fine.
