So I have a DVD-RW that I'm using to transfer all of my pictures. I have it in the drive on the iMac and it keeps closing on me. I'll be in the middle of selecting the items I want to copy or scrolling to where the error occurred on the last attempt (didn't have any problems or errors on my HP) and the Finder will just close and take me to the user menu (music and photos, etc). This was NOT a one time thing. Happened about six or seven times before I had to leave for work.

Anybody have any ideas what's going on? Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Sounds like the drive is encountering an error trying to read some data and is subsequently crashing the Finder. Is there no other way to transfer these files, over a network perhaps?

Yeah there's plenty of other ways to do it. I was just hoping my two year old HP wasn't capable of something my brand new iMac isn't.

DVD speeds could be sufficiently off from one unit to the other to upset Finder. While it plays nice at home taken to another unit it could be spinning +/- enough to barf...
