i just got my imac, and im trying to use my ipod as an external hardrive for transfer from pc to mac.
on my pc...i cleared formatted the ipod then made a seperate folder in the ipod and put all my music in it.
when i connect the ipod to my imac with usb, it recognizes on my ipod its connected, but the imac just freezes up.
when i connect using firewire, niether recognizes the other. :confused:
anyone know what im talking about or know how i can get the files onto my mac?

So when you use Firewire, the iPod doesn't display the Do Not Disconnect icon? Also, is it the iMac in your signature that we're talking about? Doesn't that mean the USB is USB 1.1, which will work but will seem to freeze up because it'll be so slow. :eek:

i found out you cant use any thing poast a 3rd generation ipod with OS 9.
if you dont upgrade to OS X, you cant use your ipod...it doesnt even recognize it! :mad:
i had to tranfer everything on a 256mb memory stick because of this.
