Hey everyone!

So I've recently updated Bootcamp on my Windows partition. Before, everything was working fine. Now I'm stuck in a cycle of rebooting. Every time I attempt to log onto my Windows partition, it asks me whether I want to go into Safety mode or such, and when I click any option, it automatically reboots.

I'm not sure if my boot.ini file has corrupted or what the case is, but I decided to remove the partition altogether and reinstall my Windows XP. However, the bootcamp assistant won't let me. It gives me this message:

Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again.

I really need my Windows partition to work again. Is there anyone who could help? Anything is greatly appreciated!

Hi Roya,
firstly, did you use the Boot Camp Utility to remove the win partition? (That's important).
Secondly, if you get message like that it means that you have to de-frag your HD.
I'm showing you the applications suitable for that in 1st column. This has to be done from another HD or from the CD/DVD (where you'd have to start from). It is a pain to do it this way + all 3 utilities are commercial products (=$).
The easiest way to defrag (=defragment) the HD is thru cloning your HD (to external HD)
and then wiping out your internal HD and then restoring your (cloned) HD back.
This will automatically defrag all the bits & then you'll be able create the win partition.
The 2nd column shows 2 utilities for cloning the hard drives. One is free & the other is commercial. (CCC = Carbon Copy Cloner).

Thanks so much for replying to my problem, Stan! I'm not really good with computers. x__x;

I'm trying to use the second column applications since it seems simpler. Are there any guides or tips you would give when using this method? I really hope this works.
